Jupiter Jane was dreamed of long before its inception in 2007. It began in the European family traditions of Laura Calvert-Peitz and was honed to a concept while Laura worked in some of the best restaurants what is considered America’s finest culinary region: San Francisco Bay. Leaving the Bay area, Laura settled in America’s Most Beautiful Small Town opening The Coit House Bed & Breakfast in an elegant old Victorian home in the heart of historic downtown. This fine old house featured high tea and scones and pastries and treats, and catering to the growing trend in sustainable foods and gluten-free offerings. Laura created perhaps the most delicious gluten-free chocolate chip cookies in the world.

 

With two beautiful blond-haired babies, not only was Laura catering to a health craze, but also to the well-being of her family. A few years after settling in Sandpoint, Laura and her family opened Dish Home Cooking, again offering dishes made for those afflicted with Celiac Disease, and wonderful vegan and vegetarian plates. Being in the sportsman’s paradise of North Idaho, she also created wonderful game and meat foods, and all of this came together with the opening of the Jupiter Jane Traveling Café.

Dish was a big hit in Sandpoint, and the concept of being able to find vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan dishes alongside creative comfort foods struck a chord with diners. Jupiter Jane has taken that concept to the next level. Innovative tacos, visionary foods, and the best baked goods is now one of the busiest traveling cafés in North Idaho, and a Jupiter Jane catered event creates memories and fine food frolics all around North Idaho and Eastern Washington.

 

Today thousands of tacos and chocolate chip cookies later, Laura continues to serve up her signature dishes and cookies fresh from the bus kitchen of the Jupiter Jane Traveling Café. The demand for the Jupiter Jane Chocolate Chip Cookies alone is a full-time operation, and has grown into a regional business. Catered events by Jupiter Jane are booked now months in advance, and the business grows every year.

 

Wholesome, fun, and healthy is how Laura lives her own life, and she translates that into her food. Her effervescent personality comes out in her service and her events, and her cookies are devine.
